Houston Compress Company was a cotton storage and baling firm located in Houston, Texas. The company was a subsidiary of Anderson, Clayton & Co., a Houston-based cotton merchant firm. Houston Compress Company's warehouse complex was built in 1917. Cotton purchased from Texas and Oklahoma was delivered by railroad to the plant, where it was stored and protected in fire-resistant concrete warehouses.
